Nutritionist Giorgio Calabrese at BTO 2023

For the topic “Food & Wine”, here is a preview of a great guest at BTO 2023.

That guest is the nutritionist Giorgio Calabrese, one of the world’s leading experts on nutrition. This is also his first time at BTO.

Specialized in Food Science, university professor, Scientific Consultant of the Ministry of Health, freelance journalist, and researcher, he is known to the general public for his presence in numerous television programs (TG2 Salute, Medicina 33, Porta a Porta, Uno Mattina and others).

With him, we will be talking about what the starting point must be for every strategy for food and wine destinations, namely the variety, quality, uniqueness of agri-food products, the wealth and treasure of our country, ambassadors of Made in Italy.

To paraphrase Professor Calabrese himself, only with “better production, better nutrition, a better environment” can we have better food-and-wine tourism.

From food-and-wine tourism once interpreted in a hedonistic sense to the turning point coming from Northern Europe, North America and Asia: the motivation today is “to go to places where you not only eat very well but also learn to eat and drink in a healthy way”.

A great expert on the Mediterranean Diet, a topic on which he has written numerous articles and books, he is also the author of the book “La dieta del terzo millennio” (The Diet of the Third Millennium) which won him the “Donatella Cinelli Colombini – Casato Prime Donne” International Award for Scientific Nutritional Literature and Winery.

Giorgio Calabrese will be a guest of the panel “Strategies, perspectives and innovative actions of a food-and-wine destination” organized by the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Board and the Food & Wine Tourism Forum of Grinzane Cavour with which BTO has entered into a scientific partnership.
