Social Intelligence: Innovation, Rebalancing and New Well-being Tailored to Inland Areas

How to explain to new technologies (!) that a lot of social intelligence is needed to understand that tourism must sometimes be looked at “from the side” and that often all the sapiens’ ability is needed to interpret contexts and build tailor-made solutions for areas that can be “uncommon” tourist destinations?

To do this, it is necessary to overcome some clichés: for example, that innovation is not always exclusively the application of the latest product of technological evolution, but simply “adding new things that were not there before”; or that sustainability is not simply synonymous with the environment; or that “wellness” tourism is not simply synonymous with spa treatments but, today more than ever, it looks at communities where both residents and temporary inhabitants can “feel good”.

The market of inland areas and towns is a market towards which attention is growing, including in terms of investment and planning, which can provide answers to new tourism needs linked to a non-rhetorical approach. As long as you look at it from a different angle.

In this framework we have built a panel with a company, an institution and a university, analyzing the inland areas from the deep southern area of Calabria, to the central-south area of Molise and up to the rich Emilia Romagna. Looking at tourism from a “lateral” angle of those who know that trade, smart working, silver economy, and production of culture are all areas in close contact with tourism, which improve the quality of a community’s welcome.

Because before the technological intelligence “generative” of contents, we need a social intelligence “generative” of visions.
